today is crooked. today is bloated and cross-eyed.

i found poetry i wrote a long time ago. I have not written for years since then. the words don’t come as easy now, and don’t make as much sense as they used to. I like integrating words with my drawings, but sometimes it feels like the writing and visuals are watered down when they’re put together. so, i don’t know.
tell me what you guys think.
The boy with the fake hummingbird wings would try and exploit
his ability to fly. He’d rent his nectar off to anyone at weekly or
monthly rates. No down payments were necessary. It was all based
on a system of honor. Although random identity checks were
required by law, he never followed through. He figured that as
long as he got paid, it didn’t matter who was who. And besides, he
was never really interested in those he dealt with. People who can’t
afford their own wings are never appealing anyway.
have you made the work at the same time specifically for each other? Or do you put two distinct pieces together as a diptych. They look like bones to me. love.

i think eddie is right in questioning the work that is made together. maybe the poems inspired by the drawings or the other way around.
the words are working but i think the context matters a lot. how would these appear physically? how would they exist together? i want to seeeeee
i like the bones. or eyes. or portals to another land. keep it up.

most of the time, i find a phrase or a sentence that appeals to me and try to make an image that relates to it. I also sometimes just make an image, and add a line of text that feels right. I collect things i hear (i eavesdrop alot). if something catches my attention, i write it down in my sketchbook. What I haven’t done though, is have a poem/ long piece of writing in mind to make an image. I will try this.
