I have rolls and rolls of film just waiting to be processed and scanned. Hopefully I can make it up to Rochester this coming weekend to get some work done so I can soon share some of the photographs I have been taking. A few weeks ago I began photographing the outskirts of accessible New York City. I didn’t have a project in mind at the time, I was just curious as to what lay within reach of the city with only a $2 train ride. Most people have a fairly good idea what New York City looks like, even if they have never been there before. The amount of images available of the city are endless, and how many movies have been filmed here? As I began exploring the outer rim of the city I found places that I would have never expected to be so accessible and yet, I’m sure people rarely go to places like Rockaway Point. I’m sure some of the places will be completely predictable and I am dreading the two hour train and fairy ride to the end of Staten Island. I should have actual photographs to show soon.

In the meentime, here is something else I’ve been doing as a release. I love taking shitty videos with my point shoot camera. They usually serve as nothing more than a reminder of things I’ve done or seen, but these low quality screen shots do something completely different. There is probably nothing here more than some artsy images, but I really like the end result created by these translations of information. They are surprisingly much like the experiences themselves even though they are so abstract.
